We’re very excited to share the news that Hitman: Sniper for iOS soft launched on the Canadian App Store at the start of this month! You may have read about it – or maybe you were lucky enough to get your hands on it while it was available! This is a huge milestone for the team, and a big step in our journey to deliver the game to the rest of the world in the coming months.
The response we had from our fans in Canada was fantastic and we’ve already had to take the game off the App Store to make sure we can use all the feedback and data we get without being overwhelmed. It’s great for us to hit those numbers so quickly and we’re already watching the competition heat up and the battle begin on the leaderboards. It’s extremely important for us to make sure we deliver a fantastic, competitive contract for both Hitman fans and newcomers, so were ironing out the wrinkles and focusing on the competitive aspect of Hitman: Sniper, which is a large portion of the fuel that drives the game.
We’re keeping a close eye on our players’ favorite load-outs, the most popular boosters and abilities, and tracking overall progression through the ranks to become the ultimate silent assassin. In the sandbox we’ve created, the avenues of approach are limitless, so how will you kill your first mark, Marcus Krug? Find out when we set our sights on the rest of the world this winter.
We’ll be in touch again soon,

PAX Prime in Seattle is just around the corner and Hitman: Sniper is going to be front and centre with daily tournaments, a huge party and a community event where one Hitman fan will get their name and face added to the game. Let us give you all the details.
Hitman: Sniper will be playable on the showfloor for all attendees at Square Enix Booth #3630 and we’ll be hosting tournaments every hour. At the end of each day, the player with the highest score from the hourly tournaments will have their high-score included in the final game at launch.
As well as the hourly tournaments, we’re also hosting a special Hitman: Sniper community event with Unity and Destructoid on Friday 29 August from 8-11pm. We’ll be looking for a Grand Prize winner who will be the envy of Hitman fans everywhere. We’re going to integrate their custom 3D model into the game as one of Agent 47′s targets. We’ll also be giving away a lot of other prizes along the way, so make sure to stop by the Hard Rock Cafe at 116 Pike Street in Seattle if you’re in the area.
It’s been a fantastic month for all of us here at Square Enix Montréal; we’ve released Hitman GO for Android and spent a few days in sunny LA showcasing Hitman: Sniper for the very first time at E3. Hopefully, you managed to catch some of the livestreams that we did on YouTube and Twitch that explain everything there is to know about the game.
The initial reaction has been great but we’re not here to talk about Hitman: Sniper – we’ll tell you a whole lot more about it closer to this fall. For now, we want to dedicate this blog post to our first major update for Hitman GO.
The Airport Update adds an entirely new box of levels with two new targets, new guard types and gameplay features.
Hello from Montréal!
We want to start with a huge thank you to everyone that has been playing Hitman GO. Being the first ever game released from our studio, we’ve all been overjoyed with the response from the community both on iOS and now on Android.
Everyone from the GO team is working hard on the next set of levels and we will be sharing more details about that a bit later – but we also have another team working on something else…
We’re proud to announce Hitman: Sniper, a completely new Hitman game that we’re developing for mobile and tablet devices. Here’s a heads-up of what to expect before we head to E3 and showcase it for the first time.
We’ve designed Hitman: Sniper to be a massively competitive sniping game that will focus on the subtlety of execution. You’ll need to have your wits about you to complete scenario-driven contracts that contain a number of targets and assignments. Each one is designed to have a high level of replayability, not only to fine-tune your approach but to explore creative alternatives and to achieve the ultimate score on the leaderboards. If you remember Hitman: Sniper Challenge, released by our friends at Io-Interactive ahead of the launch of Hitman Absolution, you’ll have a pretty good idea of the sort of action you can expect.
Just as with Hitman GO we want to make the best game possible, that’s tailor-built for touch screen devices, and gets the best out of those platforms.
Hitman: Sniper will be launching later this year and will be available free of charge. We want to offer people the opportunity to try the game for free, and then customize their own game experience with optional in-app purchases if they want to. For instance, you can get early access to contracts, or upgrade your sniper rifle – all things you can earn through playing the game. It’s up to you which one you choose and the game won’t force you down a particular route. By making Hitman: Sniper available for free, it will allow more people to have immediate access and increase the level of competition, which is at the core of the game.
We’ll obviously be watching carefully for the reactions of those playing the game, and we’ll be making notes furiously for future updates – so please be honest about your experiences, because we want to make sure we’re getting the balance right.
That’s about it for now; we’ll be sharing a lot more throughout E3,so stay connected to us on Twitter or via the game’s forums for all the latest news, and keep an eye out for Square Enix Presents on YouTube at 12:30PST on Wednesday for exclusive details on the game!

Since we posted our open letter back in January, we’ve had our heads down working on our next Hitman game. So you’ll have noticed that we have been pretty quiet, but we wanted to give you a short update about a few things.
First up, we’ve seen a lot of people talking about what we might be bringing to E3 this year. We know the worst thing is to hope for something that doesn’t turn up; so we wanted to let you know that our next Hitman is going to be under wraps for a bit longer. We’re focusing all of our time and efforts into creating the best possible Hitman game. That’s our number one priority and we don’t want to divert valuable resources to show something before it’s ready.
The good news is we’re making great progress with building exotic and expansive locations for the new game. To give you an idea of what we’re aiming for, here’s the first piece of concept art from the game. This location is set in Central Europe and you’ll be able to explore the entire building you see in the image, inside and out. For a sense of scale, the building on its own is larger than any location in Hitman Absolution.
As we move through the year, we’ll have some details to share with you and we’ll keep you posted right here on the blog. We will only lift the lid on the game once we feel we’re ready to. In the meantime, we’ll continue to answer as many of your questions as we can both in the forums and on Twitter.
On a separate note, we were happy to see so many of you enjoying Hitman GO from our friends at Square Enix Montréal. They’re pretty close to announcing new details about upcoming updates for GO as well as the first details about their second Hitman game for smartphones and tablets, we’ve been playing it here at the studio and it’s a lot of fun. Anyway, we’ll let them be the ones to tell you about it, so stay tuned for a blog post from them soon.
Thanks for your dedication, let’s stay in touch.
Over the last few months, we’ve been supporting Feral Interactive whilst they have been working on a Mac version of Hitman Absolution. All of that work is now complete and we’re happy to say that a Hitman game is available on the Mac for the first time ever!
Feral have included pretty much all of the Absolution content that we have ever made in the ‘Elite Edition’, which is available directly from the Feral Store, Steam, the Mac App Store and most other Mac game retailers.
To make sure we cover everything you might need to know, we’ve put Feral’s Community Manager, Ellie, under the spotlight and asked her some key questions about the game. After all, Feral know the technical details of this version better than anyone.
In an earlier blog post, we shared the first details about Hitman GO – a diorama-style, turn-based strategy game for tablets and smartphones. This will be the first game from the team here at Square Enix Montréal and we are very excited to let you know that it will be released worldwide on April 17!
If any of you are at PAX East in the US this week, you’ll get to play some of the game ahead of launch at our Square Enix booth. Plus there’s a good chance that you’ll run into members of the dev team, including the game’s Creative Director, Daniel Lutz, who will be on-hand to show you the game, answer your questions or give an interview if time allows! If you’re not at the show, keep an eye on the Hitman Twitter and Instagram accounts for from-the-booth coverage.
The game will be available on iOS devices first, with an Android version coming shortly after.
All versions will be priced at $4.99 / £2.99 / €4.49 at launch, which includes 68 levels that are unlockable by completing all side objectives within the game. There will be more levels coming in the future too, so stay tuned!
Oh, and one last thing. The Blood Money fans amongst you are going to love the unlockable ‘Curtains Down’ levels…

A new update for the Hitman: ICA Companion App has just been released!
Whether you’re using Android or iOS, we’ve packed in new content, optimised performance and made a whole bunch of improvements across the board.
The first thing you’ll notice is that we simplified the signup/login process to make it as easy as possible to get going with the app and access the newly added mission briefings for Silent Assassin, Contracts, Blood Money and Sniper Challenge. (It’s up to you whether you read them in Diana’s voice or not but we find that it’s hard not to.) Achievement/trophy tracking for Hitman: HD Trilogy has also been added, the ICA Files section has been updated with target and location descriptions for Absolution and the overall filesize on both platforms has been reduced. If you’re interested in digging further into the details, the full list of improvements and a handy FAQ are posted in our forums.
